How to Photograph the Monarch Migration

We're within days of monarch butterflies beginning to arrive in Mexico and once again re-populating their overwintering home, where they'll remain in "quasi-hibernation" for the next 4 to 5 months.

From 20 years of guiding in this magnificent area, I've picked up a thing or two with how to photograph these little beauties, and have lots of my own photos to show for it.

But more importantly, I want to give you the tools, ideas, and inspiration for how to best capture the monarch migration on your own.

Check out this entertaining video for live, in-the-field explanations of photographing the monarch migration, as I'm literally there photographing it myself!

As you can see, for just one little critter there are oh so many ways to capture its brilliance and vigor. I can promise you, no matter what kind of nature lover you are, being in the monarch groves of Mexico to witness and watch this spectacle will be a highlight of your life.

Hope to see you out there!
